Christian Education News from Cathy Thiltgen, Children's Librarian
Reading Program in Children's Library Ends After 10 weeks, beginning January
27, the Annual Reading Program came to an end on April 7 in the Children's Library. Seven Sunday School children participated
this year and each child reached his/her own goal. Also, each child exceeded their goal which meant he/she received
bonus prizes in addition to the regular prizes that they earned.
The children were rewarded as a group for
their accomplishments on Saturday, May 11 with a movie outing. Five adults and the seven children went to the Cinema
Café in Stoughton to see the movie, "The Croods". This movie included the world's first family who
left the cave that had always shielded them from danger. When the cave was destroyed, they started their journey and
traveled across a stunning landscape. They discovered a whole new world with many different creatures and their outlook
was forever changed. Part of the message in this movie seems to reflect, I think, what happens in the library.
Children discover a new world when they read the books and check out all the different library materials that focus on the
Christian life and God's creation. I would like to thank all the children and parents who made this year's reading program
a fun and exciting activity.
Thank you! ...to our Sunday school teachers throughout the past
school year: Ann Febock, Renée Roland Johnson, Randy Johnson, Kari Bettenhausen, Trent Bettenhausen, Joe Leto,
and Melanie Rumpf. ...to our Children's Librarian, Cathy Thiltgen, for her dedicated hours of service, and for organizing
the reading program and movie outing for out children.
